PTZ Controller

The AVKANS Joy Pro Controller is the joystick box used to move the cameras by hand. Use it when you need a shot that has not been saved as a preset. For everyday switching and presets, the StreamDeck is easier.

What the main parts do

The joystick

Moving the joystick pans and tilts the selected camera:

  • Push left / right → the camera turns left / right (pan).
  • Push up / down → the camera looks up / down (tilt).
  • Push gently → it moves slowly. Push further → it moves faster.

The zoom control

A rocker or twist control zooms the selected camera:

  • One way zooms in (closer / tighter).
  • The other way zooms out (wider).

The camera select buttons

Buttons that choose which camera the joystick controls — Camera 1 or Camera 2. The joystick only moves the camera you have selected.

The preset buttons

Number buttons that save and recall camera positions (used together with a "set"/"store" button). These match the presets you can also reach from the StreamDeck.

Before you move a camera

Only move a camera that is NOT live

Never move a camera while it is the one shown on the livestream — viewers will see it swing around. Switch the livestream to the other camera first, then move this one. See Camera Operation.

How to move a camera by hand

  1. Press the camera select button for the camera you want to move (Camera 1 or Camera 2).
  2. Confirm that camera is not currently on the livestream.
  3. Use the joystick to pan and tilt.
  4. Use the zoom control to frame the shot.
  5. When the shot looks good, switch the livestream to that camera (see Camera Operation).

Move gently

Small, slow movements look professional. Big, fast joystick moves look jerky on the livestream.

How to move Camera 2 (worked example)

"How do I move Camera 2?"

  1. On the controller, press the Camera 2 select button.
  2. Make sure the livestream is currently showing Camera 1 (so viewers don't see Camera 2 move).
  3. Push the joystick to aim Camera 2 where you want.
  4. Use the zoom to get the framing right (Camera 2 zooms up to 20×).
  5. Switch the livestream to Camera 2 when ready.

Saving a preset (optional, advanced)

If you have found a shot you will reuse, you can save it as a preset:

  1. Select the camera.
  2. Aim and zoom it exactly how you want.
  3. Hold/press the set (store) button, then a number button.

To recall it later, press that number button (or the matching StreamDeck preset button).

Check with Mills IT before changing existing presets

Recalling a preset is always safe. Overwriting an existing numbered preset changes it for everyone. If unsure, save to an unused number or ask Mills IT.
